For over half a century the Muller Martini Group, domiciled in Zofingen, Switzerland, has manufactured a broad range of systems for the graphics industry. Newspapers, journals, magazines, brochures, books and lottery tickets are produced with machines designed and built by Muller Martini.
To ensure that the TV guide is inserted correctly into the newspaper, that the photo pocket is glued to the news magazine page specified by the customer and that the latest Harry Potter volume does not fall apart even in a house full of children, Muller Martini supplies the appropriate high-quality, fully automatic equipment. Muller Martini automates the entire production process of newspaper printing plants, print shops and finishing operations. Newspapers and magazines fresh from the printing press are processed and finished, from press delivery to loading dock. Proximity to the customers and the marketThe success of Muller Martini is based on comprehensive and competent on-site customer service. Customers rely on a worldwide manufacturing, sales and service network of approximately 4,000 employees. Subsidiaries and representatives provide Muller Martini products and services in all countries of the world. Training centres in Switzerland, Germany and the US offer basic and advanced courses for both company employees as well as customer personnel. Muller Martini is segmented into seven business sectors:
Printing PressesMailings and web offset products require more than multicolour printing. The presses must also be able to handle a large variety of product sizes, from lottery tickets to posters. Moreover, the manufacturing of flexible packaging and labels is in great demand. Muller Martini focuses on automation, which enables customers to achieve consistent printing quality and easier production of repeat orders. Press Delivery SystemsPress delivery systems act as a link between press and finishing. Efficient operational processes are vital and require fully automatic and flexible systems. They accelerate and optimise processes, ensure short and smooth workflow paths, and result in cost savings. From mid-performance to high-end solutions, Muller Martini has a complete product line. Whether bundles, rolls or logs, all total solutions ensure easy and extremely gentle handling. Saddle Stitching SystemsThe success story of Muller Martini began in 1946 with stitching machines. Today the manufacturing programme comprises a full range of saddle-stitchers for magazines and brochures. The processing of inserts, order cards, glued-in product samples and CDs as well as addressing, film wrapping and packaging are very challenging production steps. With modern technologies Muller Martini boosts the workflow efficiency, and consequently the value of the finished product. Softcover ProductionThe art of bookbinding has become a highly automated production process. Spine-glued magazines, paperbacks, brochures and catalogues are now produced in high volume on Muller Martini systems. The skills of the bookbinder and the experience of Muller Martini are both important preconditions for an efficient book production. Hardcover ProductionMuller Martini uses the latest technology in the production of hardcover books. Sewn and adhesive-bound book blocks are processed fully automatically into hardcover books. Automatic make-ready greatly shortens the job set-up times, which allows economical production even under difficult conditions. And inline hardcover systems optimise book manufacturing – at all run lengths. Newspaper Mailroom SystemsHigh-performance mailroom systems process and convey freshly printed newspapers automatically from press to loading dock. Punctual publishing of the newspaper is no longer the sole criterion in the mailroom. Every day, editions are supplemented with commercial inserts and pre-printed sections with high-performance inserting systems from Muller Martini. Books-on-DemandThe trend in book production is clearly going towards smaller runs. Until now, they could not be produced cost-effectively. The reason: initial costs for conventional web-offset printing methods. Muller Martini has responded to this challenge with the first fully integrated commercial-quality books-on-demand solution that networks all digitised part processes – enabling individually designed printed products to be produced much more economically than ever before |
