| Vacon AC drives stand for high quality and precision |
|
Since Vacon’s foundation in 1993, the group of thirteen founding members has grown into the Vacon Group employing globally more than 700 people and revenues totalling EUR 186.4 million in 2006. Over the years, some things have remained unchanged: 100% focus on AC drives and a passion for excellence. The company slogan – Driven by Drives - says it all. A variable speed AC drive steplessly adjusts the rotational speed of a very typical electric motor, the squirrel cage motor. To name a few benefits, speed control improves the quality of end products, increases production volumes in manufacturing processes and brings energy savings. “Vacon has supplied drives to a wide range of applications in a multitude of industries, everything from a simple pump drive to demanding system and sectional drives, thus improving processes in terms of runnability, efficiency and quality. In cooperation with our highly skilled partners, Vacon is always able to deliver even the most demanding solutions,” says Mr Heikki Hiltunen, Executive Vice President, Vacon. In system and sectional drives, the operation of drives must be synchronized for the optimum performance. For instance, in a winding process, it is essential that the web operates at accurate tension; otherwise, the quality of the end product will not be acceptable. A high degree of precision is essential also in correct positioning. Positioning is based on actual measurements and the logic integrated into the drive application. Complete portfolioIn the highly fragmented AC drive market, the Finland-based Vacon is the largest company that focuses entirely on AC drives. Vacon has a complete product portfolio in the power range of 0.25 kW to 5 MW, including air- and liquid-cooled units and common DC bus components. Supporting open automation and international standards, Vacon AC drives are delivered to OEM customers, end-users, brand label customers, distributors and system houses (system integrators) throughout the world.AC drives save energyElectrical motors consume about one third of the world’s electrical energy. The AC drive boosts the performance of an electric motor and saves energy. This increases cost-efficiency and decreases load on the electrical network and the mechanical strain on the machine at start-up. The use of AC drives improves cost-efficiency and decreases emissions generated in energy production.Local presence, globallyVacon has its headquarters and production in Vaasa, on the west coast of Finland. Since 2004, Vacon also has production facilities in Suzhou, China. Vacon operates on its own or through partners in 100 countries. Vacon is committed to further strengthening its local presence everywhere in the world.Frost & Sullivan, one of the world’s most esteemed growth consulting companies, has awarded Vacon with several accolades. In August 2006, Frost & Sullivan named Vacon the recipient of their 2006 Global Excellence Award in Customer Value Leadership within the low voltage drives. The accolade recognises Vacon’s strong attitude and ability to bring added value to its customers. For further information, please see www.vacon.com |
